OSO-8: Orbiting Solar Observatory soft X-ray experiment (07)

Description

OSO-8: Orbiting Solar Observatory soft X-ray experiment (07). The OSO-8 housed the instrument for the Soft X-Ray Background Radiation Experiment devised by UW-Madison Physics Professor William Kraushaar. SSEC Engineers developed and built the instrument which consisted of three proportional x-ray counters. The maps generated from this experiment provided the first comprehensive survey of the low energy x-ray sky. [Evan Richards, 2007].
